Mushrooms and Meat

To paraphrase the Cat in the Hat who once said, "It's fun to have fun but you have to know how," it's cool to have friends... particularly if they're foodies! Anyway, thanks to Monica and my new friend Emily, I wanted to share a couple of upcoming food and wine events that seem too-cool-for-school.

Mushroom Recipe Contest

Put on by Marx Foods. Deadline: May 16. Check out their web site for details. Any shroom fanatics out there? Monica, this has YOU written all over it.

Local Veggie and Meat Tasting

This Monday night, May 19, 6-8 p.m. at La Gare Restaurant in Santa Rosa's Old Railroad Square. This event is being put on by the Sonoma County Meat Buying Club (I swear this is legit -- I'm NOT making this up.) Jimmy Z, this has YOU written all over it.

FYI, I'm about a 1 in a 20 for the shroom contest, but a 93% favorite to attend the Meat Club's extravaganza. (Oooo, you know that you're playing a lot of poker when you start calculating your life events using poker odds!)
